Holy Relics Kept Back to Their Native Place

The Holy Relics of the Buddha and his disciples, Arahant Sariputta and Arahant Mahagollana

After the successful exposition of the Holy Relics of the Buddha and his disciples, Arahata Sariputta and Arahata Maudgalyanain Thailand, the Holy Buddha Relics have been returned to the National Museum on 19th March 2024. Today (20th March 2024), the Holy Relics of the disciples of the Buddha, Arahant Sariputta, and Arahant Mahagollana, departed for Chetiyagiri Vihar, Sanchi, Madhya Pradesh. This exposition of Holy Relics was organized by Ministry of Culture, International Buddhist Confederation (IBC), and National Museum.

The Ganga Mekong Holy Relics Dhammayatra witnessed an overwhelming response from devotees, with over four million paying their respects across various cities in Thailand.Some devotees came from neighbouring countries like Lao, Vietnam and Cambodia.

The success of the exposition reaffirmed the centuries-old civilisational connection between India and the countries of the Mekong region. It also served as a poignant reminder of India's cultural heritage and its enduring influence on the spread of Buddhism across Asia.
