Democratic Nepal

In New Democratic Nepal, Himalayan Buddhists from
Drachula to Taplejung including Manange, Mustang,
Kyirong, Dokpa, Gyasumdo, Mugum, Dolpo, Sherpa,
Yolmo, Walung etc 19 different races speaking
different dialects have adopted Tibetan or Sambhota,
as they officially refer to. Nepal Government approved
this as one of the official language in the Nations
education system in the year 2007. Today three
different subjects such as geography, social science
and language textbooks as approved and published
by the Government.
The credit must be given to the Nepal Buddhist
Federation and the monasteries of all four schools of
Buddhism. The names of Ven. Jikdol Sherpa, Acharya
Norbu Sherpa, Acharya Serki Sherpa and the
members who worked tirelessly for many years can be
written in golden letters in the history of revival of
Buddhism in Nepal. It is time Buddhist world should
acknowledge this historic achievement under Hindu
dominated country.
