The Buddhist Creators Convention 2026 was inaugurated on 29 January 2026 at Shechen Monastery, Bodhgaya and continued until 6 February 2026. Conceived as a pioneering initiative, the convention brought together Buddhist influencers and content creators from across the globe. Its purpose was to strengthen networks, enhance creative and technical skills, and reaffirm the collective commitment to spreading the Buddha’s teachings in a positive and impactful manner through digital platforms.

The programme opened with a candle-lighting ceremony before the Buddha, led by the young Ven. Palga Rinpoche of Shechen Monastery, a 12-year-old spiritual leader. This was followed by the chanting of the Heart Sutra in Sanskrit by Ms. Deepa Ji, which imbued the proceedings with a spiritual resonance and set a contemplative tone for the day. The Chief Guest, Shri Abhijit Halder, Director General of the International Buddhist Confederation (IBC), addressed participants through a video message. Mr. Milan Amin, Senior Brand Strategist, shared insights on best practices for producing content rooted in Buddhist enlightenment, stressing the importance of authenticity and clarity. The convention also introduced innovative reflections on Buddhist AI, encouraging participants to consider the evolving journey of becoming a Buddhist influencer in a technologically advanced world. A special highlight is the panel discussion on “The Future of Buddhism in the Digital Age.” Which is held on 30th January, 2026, the second day of programme. This session brought together leading Buddhist influencers to reflect on how technology and digital platforms can be harnessed to preserve, adapt, and spread the teachings of the Buddha in contemporary society. The panel was moderated by Rahul Dongre, who guided the dialogue with thoughtful questions and insights. The speakers included Quinthup Pema Bhutia, Ayye Shakya Dhammadinna, and Aachen Tenzin Thupten, each of whom shared perspectives on the opportunities and challenges of digital engagement. Together, they emphasized the importance of balancing innovation with authenticity, ensuring that digital tools serve as vehicles for compassion, wisdom, and meaningful connection rather than distraction. This panel reinforced the convention’s central theme of responsible digital influence and highlighted the collective vision of shaping a mindful future for Buddhism in the online era.
Participation and Global Reach
The convention witnessed wide participation from across the globe, including Southeast Asia, Korea, Japan, and other countries. A total of 120 content creators registered, comprising 44 percent monks and 56 percent laypersons. This diverse representation reflected the growing global interest in spreading Buddha Dhamma through digital platforms and demonstrated the inclusivity of the initiative, bridging monastic and lay communities in a shared mission.
